Willie Sutton
“Slick Willie” was one of Eastern State’s most famous inmates. During his stay at Eastern, Willie “The Actor” attempted to escape five separate times, including the infamous 1945 tunnel escape. Sutton is one of the FBI’s “Historical Ten Most Wanted.”

Al Capone
In 1929, famous gangster Alphonse “Scarface” Capone spent eight months of his life in one of Eastern’s “Park Avenue” cells. Here you will find the FBI’s biography of this colorful criminal.
